Science, Skepticism, debunking & beliefs

March 10th, 2008

This article: The Ascent of humanity seems to portray a good summary of the kind of thought process of many science minded atheists.

I largely agree with many of the writers viewpoints, however the writer seems to have a depressed outlook that he blames on his belief system, and that he has a choice of what he believes in, and this is his choice. I personally have the opinion that belief is formulated from conditioning, and is generated from our experience, rather than an actual choice. My opinion however raises the notion that maybe nothing is choice and that every choice in our life is predetermined by who we are generated from our genetics + experience. (not fate, but the science version of fate I guess).

The thought that strikes me most after reading this was that, to some degree we can be skeptical of reality itself. Is what we perceive really reality? We have the capability to both dream and hallucinate, and even imagine the concept of the matrix, or other similar concepts. Who is to say that what we perceive is what is real, and who is to say that they can really say what Real is. One thing is for sure.

I know that I do not know. All I am sure of, is what I have perceived, is what I have perceived, and that my memories are my memories. I know that this may not be what is real, nor what others may believe is real. What I am sure of is that, it doesn’t really make all that much difference to my experience, my experience is one that it seems I can chose.

Chose your experience and know that you do not know reality.

Hapiloons And Qualitars With Respect to time.

November 12th, 2006

A Sum of All Hapiloons in a life can be determined. This is the total hapiloons you have ever achieved in your life. It should be noted that in this diagram it may appear hapiloons is decreasing for a moment in time, this is merely a diagram flaw (should be interpreted as a line approaching flat) as it is Only possible to get Positive Hapiloons.

total hapiloons

Qualitars are the unit for quality of life.

hapiloons at a moment in time

This shows that the current experience of hapiloons is the sum of the quality of life at that time + the sum of the current emotional state.

NOTE : Hapiloons Can not at any moment in time ever be zero, These equations shown are approximate. As Hapiloons approaches 0, the effect of the emotional state diminishes to 0. This means that, No matter how you feel you ALWAYS have something that is making you happy.
